Mill Spring · Polk County, North Carolina
A land-first community near Tryon International, with bridle trails recorded on the plats and homesites sized for a barn and paddocks.
Tryon Equestrian Farms is a 1,000-acre subdivision in the Mill Spring area of Polk County, off A R Thompson Road. It is mostly land: buyers here are usually choosing a homesite and building the farm they want, rather than buying a finished one. Recent listings have run from about 6 to 18 acres.
The appeal is planning. A current listing describes nature and bridle trails recorded on the plats throughout the subdivision, with black rail fencing along the equestrian trails, so trail access is written into the land rather than left to a handshake.
The same listing notes a 2,000 square foot minimum for homes and annual HOA dues of $1,000. We confirm the current covenants with the association for any lot we show.
Location is the other draw. Listings put the community 10 to 15 minutes from Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, which opened in 2014 and hosted the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games.
