Columbus · Polk County, North Carolina
A gated community in the heart of Polk County built around horses, with a shared barn and arena, a community lake and the trail systems at its edge.
Derbyshire is a gated community off Mapleton Lane near Columbus, in the middle of Polk County and a few minutes from Tryon and Landrum. Listings there describe it as designed around an equestrian lifestyle, with deep riding roots.
It suits a rider who wants horse country without running a whole farm. Instead of every owner keeping a barn, the community shares one: listings describe a large community barn, a well-kept riding arena and boarding. Homesites are smaller than a farm tract, often around an acre, and some owners have bought the lot next door as well.
For riding out, listings describe direct access to both the CETA and FETA trail systems, plus about eight miles of walking trails around the community. There is also a community lake with a boat ramp, a boat slip and a paddle launch.
Tryon International is a short drive away. One recent listing showed association dues of $1,050, billed twice a year. As always, we confirm the current covenants, boarding arrangements and trail memberships before you buy.

Tell us the acreage, the stalls and the discipline. Some farms here change hands quietly, so the earlier we know, the better.
